TURA: Director of Elementary and Mass Education in Meghalaya, J.D. Sangma, has submitted a proposal to the Education Department for enhancement of grant-in-aid to pre-primary school teachers.

In his letter he pointed out that the nature of duties and functions performed by the pre-primary school teachers were similar to that of lower primary teachers.

He said that the difficulty level was much higher for pre-primary teachers as enrolment of students in this section was much more as compared to the lower primary section.

“Though there is a difference in timing and duration, there should not be any differences in quantum of pay between lower primary and pre-primary teachers in view of the complex nature of duties attended to by the pre-primary teachers,” Sangma contended.
