Hugh Jackman to feature in Treasure Island
Hollywood star Hugh Jackman is set to feature in Ridley Scott’s next film Treasure Island, where he will essay the role of the pirate Long John Silver.
The film is an adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1883 novel, with the same title and will have a script by Emmy-winning Adolescence writer Jack Thorne, according to the entertainment news outlet Variety. Treasure Island follows young Jim Hawkins as he finds a map to Captain Flint’s long-lost fortune and embarks on a perilous voyage aboard the Hispaniola. Aboard the ship, Jim and the crew face mutiny led by the cunning, one-legged cook, Long John Silver – but ultimately outsmart the pirates to claim the gold. Jackman’s last featured in The Sheep Detectives, where he essayed the role of George. Besides Treasure Island, he will also feature in The Death of Robin Hood. The film is set to release on June 19. Lauren LaVera, Rory Culkin join Red Wedding
Actors Lauren LaVera and Rory Culkin are set to feature in Gulfstream Pictures’ horror thriller film, titled Red Wedding. LaVera is known for her role as Sienna Shaw in the Terrifier series. She last featured in Twisted. Culkin has been part of projects such as Mean Creek, Scream 4 and the television series Swarm, among others. The film is directed by Josh Stolberg and is currently in production. It is written by Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger, according to the entertainment news outlet Deadline. The project follows a teenager and her stepmother who are kidnapped and taken to a remote location as part of a ransom plot, soon discovering their captors are the least of their worries when a deadly bride and groom arrive and begin picking them off one by one, according to the official logline. Qureshi steps in as mysterious female assassin in Baby Do Die Do
The much-awaited teaser of Huma Qureshi starrer Baby Do Die Do has been unveiled, offering a glimpse into the dark, quirky and unpredictable world of ‘Baby KarMarKar’ – described as India’s first desi hitwoman. Led by Huma in the titular role, the film also stars Sikander Kher, Chunky Pandey, Seema Pahwa, Rachit Singh and Marudhar Shekhawat in pivotal roles. The gritty glimpse traces her story back to childhood while gradually introducing the eclectic mix of characters who inhabit it. Set against the backdrop of Mumbai, the teaser is packed with intrigue, action and mystery. It opens up the world of Baby Karmarkar while revealing almost nothing about the enigmatic hitwoman herself. Amidst the chaos, a woman carrying a striking red umbrella moves through the city unnoticed, leaving behind a trail of questions and keeping the mystery alive. The much-anticipated third instalment in the popular franchise Tanu Weds Manu – The Next Chapter will go on floors in 2026. The exciting announcement was made as Eros Innovation recently announced a major content slate. Tanu Weds Manu – The Next Chapter will be directed by Mitakshara Kumar, known for his work in Heeramandi and The Empire. The project will be co-produced with Rudrak Soma Jyoti Limited.
