ISLAMABAD, June 15: Pakistan’s jailed former prime minister Imran Khan was taken from Adiala Jail to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad on Sunday for treatment of his right eye and later returned to prison, authorities said.
The 73-year-old Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader received a fifth anti-VEGF intravitreal injection as part of ongoing treatment for right central retinal vein occlusion, a condition that impairs vision due to abnormal blood vessel growth and fluid leakage.
Doctors said he was clinically stable before, during and after the procedure and showed improvement in eye scans.
Khan, incarcerated since 2023, has undergone several similar treatments since January, including earlier injections in January, February, March and April.
His party has raised concerns over his health and demanded independent medical evaluation and proper care.(PTI)
