Mulayam slams govt for price rise

New Delhi: Slamming the government on the issue of price rise, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday said inflation has further increased after the Narendra Modi government came to power. The government, he said, has already spent much time in power by now to take action against price rise. “Since the day they took oath, inflation has further increased,” he told reporters outside Parliament. SP along with opposition parties such as Congress, RJD, SP and AAP disrupted proceedings in Lok Sabha earlier in the day insisting on a discussion on the matter through adjournment motions. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said the government has nothing to hide and was ready for discussion on the matter under Rule 193. (PTI)

UPSC puts up civil services exam marksheets online

New Delhi: The marksheets of civil services examination, results of which were declared last month, have been put up on the website of Union Public Service Commission. Candidates, who appeared in the 2013 civil services examination, can log on to the UPSC website– www.upsc.gov.in–to access their marksheets. The marksheets of candidates who were recommended and not recommended for prestigious government jobs on the basis of the civil services exam, and detailed results of those who could not qualify the main examination have been made available on the UPSC portal. The marksheets of civil services (preliminary) examination 2013 have also been made available online. “These marksheets will be available online till August 19,” said an official of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). The civil services examination is conducted annually by the UPSC in three stages–preliminary, main and interview– to choose candidates for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) among others. LS hails launch of polar satellite PSLV-C23

New Delhi: Lok Sabha on Monday hailed successful launch of PSLV-C23 with five satellites saying it has yet again exhibited India’s prowess in space technology. “With this launch, our nation has yet again exhibited its prowess and immense potential in the domain of space endeavours. This accomplishment by our space scientists has done us proud,” Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said amid thumping of desk by the members. On June 30, the Polar Satellite vehicle PSLV-C23 was launched rpt launched. Lok Sabha also conveyed felicitations to scientists and technologists of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for making this mission a success. (PTI)

CBI arrests I-T Dy Commissioner in bribery case

New Delhi: CBI on Monday arrested a Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax from Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs three lakh in lieu of closing a few tax liability cases. CBI sources said Deputy Commissioner, Income Tax, Fazulullah was nabbed after he allegedly received Rs three lakh, which was part payment of the Rs five lakh bribe for closing tax liability cases against two doctors. They said the I-T officer allegedly struck the deal with Chartered Accountant, Pengaluri Musaliah, for closing cases of pending taxes against his clients and had demanded Rs five lakh for the same. (PTI)
