Chennai, June 21: Yashasvi Jaiswal scripted history with a brilliant century against Afghanistan, becoming the fastest Indian batter to score two ODI hundreds.
The left-handed opener reached the milestone in just six innings, surpassing the previous Indian record held by Shikhar Dhawan, who took seven innings to score his first two ODI centuries.
Making a successful return to the Indian ODI side, Jaiswal produced a fluent knock at the MA Chidambaram Stadium and played a key role in India’s comfortable chase.
He brought up his century against Afghanistan in just 83 balls after reaching his half-century in 38 deliveries.
Among Indian batters, Jaiswal now holds the record for the fewest innings to score two ODI centuries, ahead of Dhawan (7), Kedar Jadhav (9), Virat Kohli (17) and Shubman Gill (18). (Agencies)
