SHILLONG, June 25: Ladrymbai-B Sports Club has appealed to the Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) to postpone the final of the East Jaintia District Cricket Association (EJDCA) Knockout Tournament 2026 pending an inquiry into its complaint alleging a breach of tournament rules during the semi-final stage.
The appeal comes despite EJDCA announcing that the final between Dein Chynrum CC and Lumshnong Block will be held on Friday at the RBDCA Ground in Phahamsning Nongkhrah, Ri-Bhoi district. In a representation to MCA president James PK Sangma, the club alleged that EJDCA failed to enforce Rule-16 of its Rules and Regulations by allowing Dein Chynrum CC to field three guest players in the semi-final at Mookhep Ground.
Ladrymbai-B claimed the players were from outside the district league and that their inclusion influenced the outcome of the match, which Dein Chynrum CC won by 12 runs. The club said it lodged a formal complaint with EJDCA on May 20, along with the prescribed fee of Rs 500, but received no official response. It also questioned the validity of a June 8 meeting convened to discuss the issue, stating that it was held at a private shop rather than the association’s office and did not constitute an official hearing.
Subsequently, the club approached the Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills on June 15, seeking to keep the final in abeyance until the matter was resolved.
Alleging that the issue affects fair play and transparency, Ladrymbai-B has urged the MCA to conduct an impartial inquiry and postpone the final until the complaint is conclusively addressed. As things stand, the title clash is set to proceed as scheduled, even as questions over the alleged rule violation remain unresolved.
