Toronto, June 25: Senegal face a must-win encounter against Iraq in their final Group I match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 at BMO Field on Saturday as they seek to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive.
The Lions of Teranga have endured a disappointing campaign so far, suffering defeats in both of their group matches. After falling 3-1 to France despite a promising start, Senegal were beaten 3-2 by Norway, leaving them rooted to the bottom of the group and facing a battle to qualify as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams. Defensive frailties have proved costly for the African side, who have conceded six goals in two matches. (Agencies)
