Immunisation
The Health and Family Welfare department will observe National Immunisation Day 2026 under the Pulse Polio Programme on Monday in East Khasi Hills, which will be followed by two days of house-to-house search activities. According to a statement here, all children, below the age of 5 years, will be administered oral polio drops. “All parents are requested to bring their children below the age of 5 years to the designated booths in their respective villages/localities for vaccination,” the statement said. The department has also requested the headmen, NGOs, church leaders and community organisations to extend their cooperation so as to ensure the success of the programme.

Rath Yatra Utsav
The Laban Sanatan Dharmasabha Harisabha Temple has announced the schedule for the upcoming Rath Yatra Utsav. According to a statement, the festivities will commence with the yearly Snan Yatra of Lord Jagannath and the monthly Purnima Puja on June 29. Devotees can participate in the ceremonial bathing of the deity from 10 am to 12 noon at the temple. The main Rath Yatra festival is scheduled for July 16. A special puja will also be held during the day, followed by the traditional pulling of the chariot in the evening. The celebrations will conclude with the Ulta-Rath Yatra (Return Chariot festival) on July 24. The return procession will start from Yogamaya Ashram and conclude at the Harisabha Temple.
