Couple held in city drug bust; narcotics seized

SHILLONG, June 28: The Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) arrested a couple from Them Iew Mawlong late Saturday and seized 15.19 grams of suspected narcotics and 77 vials following a raid based on specific intelligence.
The accused have been identified as Chiman Masih and his wife. According to police, the operation was launched following reports of drug trafficking in the area. Officers initially apprehended the woman before searching the premises.
The raid faced a brief disruption when a crowd gathered at the spot to interfere with the operation. However, personnel from the Special Operations Team (SOT) were deployed to control the situation, allowing the search to be completed.
Both suspects were arrested and a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is under way.
