Victoria (Seychelles), June 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday was conferred with the honorary ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ title by Seychelles for his steadfast commitment to environmental conservation and advancing the aspirations of the Small Island Developing States.

“Grateful to the people and Government of Seychelles as well as President Herminie for conferring upon me the ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’,” PM Modi posted on social media after receiving the honour.
“I humbly accept this honour and dedicate it to all those countries that are fighting the challenge of climate change and consider environmental protection their responsibility towards future generations. This is a pressing challenge which we have to overcome together,” Modi said.
PM Modi said India is ready to do whatever is required to make the planet “greener and sustainable.”
“This is reflected in our various domestic policies, emphasis on Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) and global efforts like the International Solar Alliance, Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure and more,” he said.
From seas to skies, India is becoming increasingly self-reliant: PM Modi
In his monthly Mann Ki Baat broadcast on Sunday, PM Modi highlighted major milestones in India’s journey toward self-reliance, stating that the nation is becoming increasingly secure and self-reliant “from the seas to the skies.”
In the aviation sector, Modi celebrated the June 10 maiden flight of the first made-in-India C-295 military transport aircraft. Under a Rs 21,935 crore deal for 56 aircraft, 40 are being assembled domestically by Tata Advanced Systems and Airbus in Vadodara, boosting local MSMEs and employment.
For maritime strength, the PM noted the Kolkata induction of three completely indigenous naval ships: INS Dunagiri, INS Shanshak, and INS Agrya. Additionally, he lauded the DRDO’s successful June 15 test-firing of the indigenous Long-Range Land-Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM) off the Odisha coast.
“In other words, from the seas to the skies, our India is becoming increasingly secure and self-reliant,” he said.
Modi thanked citizens for cutting back on gold purchases, foreign holidays, and opting for carpools amid the West Asia situation, while encouraging farmers to adopt chemical-free farming. He also praised cultural and educational milestones, including a new AI and Data Science B.Tech program at the Central Sanskrit University and a Dominican Republic group studying Vedic literature.
