SHILLONG/TURA, June 30: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) electoral rolls commenced across East Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills districts on Tuesday, with over 7,800 enumeration forms distributed on the first day.
In East Khasi Hills, the exercise is under way in all 898 polling parts covering 15 Assembly constituencies. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have begun distributing enumeration forms to households, with the entire process of distribution and collection expected to be completed by July 29.
The highest number of forms distributed were in West Shillong (391), followed by Pynursla (375), North Shillong (317), and Mawsynram (317). Other constituencies include Mawryngkneng (306), Sohiong (275), South Shillong (218), Nongkrem (203), Mylliem (174), Mawlai (166), Nongthymmai (140), East Shillong (124), Mawkynrew (117), Mawphlang (116), and Pynthorumkhrah (101).
In West Garo Hills, 4,513 enumeration forms were distributed on the first day and another 147 forms had been digitised. The district has 3,96,914 registered electors (1,97,886 male, 1,99,027 female, and one third-gender), with female voters outnumbering males by 1,141.
Among the 11 Assembly constituencies, Phulbari recorded the highest distribution with 1,147 forms, followed by Rajabala with 986 and Raksamgre with 792. Dadenggre led in digitisation with 66 forms.
The District Election Officers in both districts have urged residents to cooperate with BLOs and submit the filled forms within the stipulated timeline to ensure accurate and updated electoral rolls ahead of future elections.
