SHILLONG, July 4: Tyrsad Higher Secondary School, Umpohliew Jingtip Higher Secondary School and O.M. Roy Memorial Higher Secondary School emerged champions in their respective categories at the District Level Inter-School Subroto Cup Football Tournament 2026 for East Khasi Hills, held on Saturday.
In the Under-15 Boys final at the SSA Stadium, Umpohliew Jingtip HSS edged past St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School 1-0 in a closely contested encounter. Hamebanjop Langstieh scored the decisive goal deep into stoppage time (50+1 minute) to hand his side the title.
In the Under-17 Girls final played at Mawlai Madan Heh, Tyrsad HSS defeated Iewrynghep Secondary School 3-1. Deiphibakor Lyting opened the scoring in the 21st minute before Ha-I-Sha Myrthong doubled the advantage in the 37th minute. Labianghun Rani added a third goal five minutes later to put Tyrsad firmly in control. Iewrynghep pulled one back through Sarihun Songthiang in the 57th minute, but Tyrsad held on comfortably to secure the championship.
The Under-17 Boys final at the SSA Stadium produced a thrilling contest between O.M. Roy Memorial HSS and Umpohliew Jingtip HSS. Richmond Lapang gave Umpohliew Jingtip an early lead in the opening minute before Lamshai Jana struck twice in the 68th and 75th minutes to put O.M. Roy Memorial ahead. However, Iaisynroplang Syiemlieh equalised in the 78th minute to level the scores at 2-2 and force a penalty shootout.
O.M. Roy Memorial HSS held their nerve from the spot, defeating Umpohliew Jingtip HSS 4-2 in the shootout to lift the Under-17 Boys title.
The tournament was organised by the Office of the District Sports Officer, East Khasi Hills.
