Rajnath, Jaitley named BJP deputy leaders in Parliament

New Delhi: Home Minister Rajnath Singh was on Saturday named deputy leader of the BJP in the Lok Sabha while Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was made deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi heads the parliamentary party.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday reconstituted its parliamentary party executive committee and named different chief whips for the party and the government.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Vekaiah Naidu was named the ‘government chief whip’.

He has two ministers of state – Santosh Gangwar (Lok Sabha) and Prakash Javadekar (Rajya Sabha) – as ‘government deputy chief whips’.

Arjun Ram Meghwal will be party chief whip in the Lok Sabha and Avinash Rai Khanna in the Rajya Sabha.

Ganesh Singh will be party secretary in the Lok Sabha and Bhupendra Yadav in the Rajya Sabha.

P.C. Mohan will be the party treasurer.

The party also appointed 13 whips in the Lok Sabha and three in the Rajya Sabha. (IANS)
