Three youths die in Umroi road mishap

NONGPOH, July 7: Three young men lost their lives in a tragic road accident on Monday evening after the scooty they were riding rammed into the rear of a stationary truck along the Shillong Bypass at Umroi.
According to sources, the accident occurred at around 8:30 pm near the football ground at Umroi. The victims, all residents of Umden Umsaitprah village, were travelling on a scooty when they reportedly crashed into the truck, which had been parked on the roadside.
The impact of the collision was severe, and all three youths, whose identities had not been officially established at the time of filing this report, succumbed to their injuries on the spot.
Personnel from the Khapmara Police Investigation Centre rushed to the scene shortly after the incident to initiate an investigation. The bodies of the deceased were later shifted to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for necessary legal formalities.
