Shillong, July 10: Shillong’s growing reputation as one of India’s football hubs received global recognition after the official FIFA World Cup Instagram page featured the Chief Minister’s FIFA Fan Park at the SRGT Parking Lot in Polo, Shillong, showcasing the enthusiastic crowd during the FIFA World Cup 2026 match between Argentina and Egypt.
The video, posted on Friday night (July 10), captured the electric atmosphere at the fan park as hundreds of football enthusiasts gathered to watch the World Cup clash on the giant screen. The post quickly went viral, receiving around 37,000 likes, 828 comments and more than 500 shares at the time of reporting.
Sharing the video, the official @fifaworldcup Instagram account wrote: “Thank you Shillong for this beautiful showcase of football’s power to unite – the FIFA World Cup is the world’s game and it is bringing people together far and wide!”
