Threatened

A female resident of a locality in East Khasi Hills has lodged a complaint that on July 8, around 11 am, her ex-husband Amir Kharkongor harassed her in her shop and also threatened her with dire consequences. Further, Amir Kharkongor also broke the window of her shop, damaged several items meant for selling, with the intention of disrupting her business.

Duped

A male resident of a locality in West Jaintia Hills lodged a complaint that on January 13, 2026, one Federick Talang cheated the complainant’s mother of Rs 2 lakh, on the pretext of providing him with a job in Delhi.
A Shillong man lodged a complaint that on June 26, 2026, one Sujan Bhowmik cheated him of Rs 45,740.
A woman from Ri-Bhoi lodged a complaint that she was cheated of Rs 1.6 lakh in Teer.

Items stolen from car

Rickostar Wanniang lodged a complaint that on July 3, around 9 am, miscreant(s) stole a laptop among other items from his vehicle (ML-05AC-2979), which was parked near Karbi House, Laban, Shillong.
Susan Moore Warjri lodged a complaint that on June 25, 2026, and July 4, 2026, miscreant(s) stole car tapes from two of her vehicles — ML05 AH 1038 and ML05 AC 9696 — in 7th Mile, Upper Shillong.

Break-in

Kajal Ghosh lodged a complaint that on July 5, miscreant(s) broke into her residence at Assamese Girls School, Laban, Shillong, and stole gold ornaments valued around Rs 2 lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh in cash.
Henrietta Shylla of Laitumkhrah, Shillong, lodged a complaint that on July 7, miscreant(s) broke into her shop and stole Rs 6 lakh in cash.
Jignak M Marak lodged a complaint that on July 6, she found that miscreant(s) broke into Chandigre Anganwadi Centre in West Garo Hills and stole several utensils, a weighing machine, etc.
Headmaster of Phulbari SSA Upper Primary School, West Garo Hills, lodged a complaint that on July 3, miscreant(s) broke into the school premises and stole the utensils valued around Rs 30,000, used for preparing mid-day meals.

Cattle theft bid

On July 8 morning, residents of Upper Damalgre village in South West Garo Hills attempted to apprehend miscreant(s)who were reportedly attempting to steal cattle from the village in a Maruti Alto car. However, the miscreant(s) managed to escape, abandoning the aforementioned vehicle and one head of cattle.
Happyland Mawblei lodged a complaint that on July 6, around 2 pm, miscreant(s) stole livestock from Mawlyntriang village in Eastern West Khasi Hills.

Unauthorised transaction

A male resident of a locality in Shillong lodged a complaint that between May 12 and 13, 2026, an unauthorised transaction of nearly Rs 1 lakh took place from his bank account, without his knowledge.

B’deshi natls held

On July 6 morning, police along with BSF personnel apprehended two suspected Bangladeshi nationals Md. Rakibul Hussain (22) and Md. Mamon Ali (29) from a Siliguri-bound bus at Jengjal Bazar in West Garo Hills.

Theft

Donaldson Kharbyngar lodged a complaint that on July 1 evening, miscreant(s) stole one water pump from his residence at Pomlum Block-II, 7th Mile, Upper Shillong.
Kynsaibor Warbor lodged a complaint that on July 3, miscreant(s) stole 50 iron pipes belonging to the PHE department from a storage site at Lumdiengjri, Shillong.
