SHILLONG, July 13: A Guwahati-based travel and hospitality firm, Lone Tree Consultants Pvt. Ltd., has issued a legal notice to the Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA), invoking an arbitration clause over alleged non-payment of outstanding dues.
The notice, dated July 3, was served to MCA President James PK Sangma and Honorary General Secretary Rayonald Kharkamni. It states that the company has initiated arbitration proceedings under Section 21 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, claiming the MCA failed to clear invoices despite repeated reminders.
According to the firm, the two parties entered into an MoU on July 30, 2025, in which the association agreed to procure all travel-related services exclusively from the company, with payments due within seven days of billing. The company alleges that while it provided accommodation and logistics for various MCA events and tours, the association defaulted on several payments.
The legal notice further states that the total outstanding amount, including interest, remains unpaid. Consequently, Lone Tree Consultants has proposed the appointment of a sole arbitrator to resolve the dispute. The firm has requested the MCA’s consent within a specified timeframe, failing which it will approach the court for the appointment of an arbitrator. The company stated it remains open to resolving the matter through arbitration as per the terms of the original agreement.
