SHILLONG, July 13: Police are investigating the death of a 15-year-old girl from Wahlong village in East Khasi Hills, who was found dead on July 9.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said an Unnatural Death (UD) case has been registered to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the SP, the girl had been working as a domestic help in Shillong. Preliminary inquiries suggest there was an altercation between the girl and her mother over land-related documents prior to the incident. Both parents were reportedly away from home at the time of her death.
Syiem stated that the inquest and post-mortem examination have been completed. Police are currently awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the next course of action based on the findings.
