Subroto Cup football kicks off today

Shillong, July 20: The Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs has announced the groups and fixtures for the State-Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament 2026, which will be held in Shillong from July 21 to 25.
School teams from across Meghalaya will compete in the Under-15 Boys, Under-17 Boys and Under-17 Girls categories, with matches to be played at the SSA Stadium, Polo, MFA Turf, Polo, and Mawlai Stadium.
The group stage will be held from July 21 to 23, followed by the semi-finals on July 24 and the finals on July 25.The tournament will feature 12 teams each in the Under-15 Boys, Under-17 Boys and Under-17 Girls events, divided into four groups of three teams.
The opening day will see 12 league matches played across the three venues.
However, the Under-15 Boys final is scheduled for 11 am on July 25, while the Under-17 Girls and Under-17 Boys finals for the tournament will be held at 9 am and 1 pm respectively at the SSA Stadium.
The tournament is expected to showcase some of Meghalaya’s most promising young footballers as schools from across the state vie for top honours and a place in the next stage of the prestigious Subroto Mukherjee Cup. The five-day championship is expected to witness intense competition as young footballers look to impress and keep their dreams of Subroto Cup glory alive.
