SHILLONG, July 26: Meghalaya has achieved 99.14 per cent distribution of Enumeration Forms (EFs) under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with 88.45 per cent of the forms already digitised.
According to the latest status report from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), 23,29,438 out of a total electorate of 23,49,645 have received their forms. However, 2,07,300 electors (8.82 per cent) are yet to be mapped.
The revision exercise has identified 1,05,280 cases under the ASDD (Absent, Shifted, Dead, and Duplicate) category. This includes 59,917 deceased electors, 27,048 shifted voters, 13,241 absent electors, and 4,196 duplicate entries.
There were also 878 instances where individuals refused to accept the forms.
Five districts—West Jaintia Hills, East Garo Hills, West Garo Hills, South Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills—achieved 100 per cent distribution. Ri-Bhoi followed at 99.96 per cent, West Khasi Hills at 99.97 per cent and Eastern West Khasi Hills at 99.99 per cent. East Khasi Hills recorded the state’s lowest distribution at 96.97 per cent.
In terms of digitisation, West Khasi Hills leads the state at 97.65 per cent, followed by Eastern West Khasi Hills (97.23 per cent) and South West Garo Hills (95.04 per cent). East Khasi Hills reported the lowest digitisation level at 79.02 per cent.
The report also noted that Ri-Bhoi has the highest proportion of electors yet to be mapped at 23.23 per cent (47,798 voters), followed by South West Khasi Hills at 13.72 per cent.
District-wise, East Khasi Hills, which has the state’s largest electorate of 6,32,146, recorded the highest number of ASDD cases at 30,910, including 18,791 deaths. West Garo Hills reported 21,423 ASDD cases, while Eastern West Khasi Hills recorded the lowest at 2,120.
The Election Commission has, meanwhile, reminded citizens that failure to submit Enumeration Forms within the prescribed timeline will result in their names being excluded from the draft electoral roll, which is set for publication on August 5.
