Body of missing man recovered from stream in East Khasi Hills

SHILLONG, July 27: The body of a man who had been missing for two weeks was recovered from the Weidingwah stream at 12 Mile on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Mordar Kurkalang, a resident of 12 Mile Umlympung. East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said Kurkalang went missing after leaving home to go fishing about a fortnight ago.
The State Disaster Response Team (SDRT) assisted the police in retrieving the body from the water. An unnatural death case has been registered and legal formalities are being processed.
According to the SP, the family members do not suspect foul play and have sought an exemption from a post-mortem examination. Further proceedings are under way.
