NONGPOH: Peeved with the few police personnel in the district, the FKJGP, North Khasi Hills District urged the State Government through the Home Department to appoint an Additional Superintendent of Police in Ri-Bhoi District as done in other district of the State.

Speaking to The Shillong Times, FKJGP, NKHD president Eddie G Kharbani said that the district had been facing a lot of grievances especially in controlling law and order problems that had occurred due to the less number of police personnel as per the information collected by the federation.

“Ri Bhoi District is one of the districts in the State that had connectivity with different other State through the National Highway and especially on its location bordering Assam and Meghalaya therefore lots of crime occurred everyday and that had posed as a big problem for the present police personnel to take stock on these rising crimes and to maintain peace and tranquility in the district,” Kharbani said.

He also opined that limited number of police personnel had also given benefit to the Assam to encroach into many part of the district. Therefore, the FKJGP had strongly asked the State government and the Home Department of the State to appoint an Additional Superintendent of Police and also to depute more force to tackle law and order and also in maintaining peace in the district.
