SHILLONG: Negligence on the part of authorities of Shillong Civil Hospital has led to the death of a 27-year-old woman Bantilis Nongrum from Riangmang near Mairang, West Khasi Hills.
According to the relatives, they had come to admit the deceased in the hospital on Saturday after she complained of severe headache.
“Only at the time of admission in the hospital, the doctor examined the deceased,” the elder sister of the deceased, Ailis Nongrum told newsmen on Sunday. She informed that she had requested the nurses to inform the doctor as her younger sister complained of severe headache.
“But the nurses instead stated that the doctors are busy in the emergency ward,” Nongrum said. According to the elder sister, the doctor finally came to examine but it was too late since her sister had already expired. “We have lost our sister only because of negligence on the part of the hospital,” she said. Meanwhile, Sohryngkham MDC Pyniaid Syiem who came to console the family members in the hospital said that he has lodged a complaint with the Director of Health Services and also with the District Administration on the negligence on the part of the doctors of the hospital.
