Actress Huma Qureshi is not a fan of size zero and says being curvy is an asset for her as she feels men prefer women who are a little on the plus side.
The 25-year-old actress recently posed for a magazine in which she proudly flaunted her curves, sending out a strong message on how women are often forced to conform to a certain type of body shape in showbiz.
“I have always been very confident being curvy. I think it is all about feeling good and accepting yourself the way you are. There is no such rule that being skinny is the right way to go about. I have never felt like that. And moreover no guy has ever come to me and said that I do not look pretty… so there you go,” Huma said.
Besides Huma, there are other actresses in Bollywood like Sonakshi Sinha and Vidya Balan, who are proud of their curvy figure. “Even in Bollywood it is changing… there are so many actresses who are comfortable in their skins. That is a good sign,” said Huma, who turned showstopper for designer duo Rimple and Harpreet Narula at the India Couture Week.
The ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ actress dazzled on the runway in a brown lehenga-choli set, teamed with a low-cut back choli with full-sleeves. The collection was inspired by the Middle East and was showcased against myriad visual projections consisting of images that brought alive the theme of wanderlust.
The silhouettes consisted of dramatic capes, robes, sheer jackets and cloaks, which were made from tulles, silk, teamed with embroidery inspired by Islamic Arts. The accessories included hand-knitted turbans, elaborate beadwork headgear, side bags and embroidered clutches. (PTI)
