Guwahati: A day after the rebel minister Dr Himanta Bishwa Sarma resigned from Tarun Gogoi-led Congress ministry in Assam, Gogoi on Tuesday dropped two ministers –Dr Adhendu Dey and Siddique Ahmed – from the ministry as per the ‘instruction of the high command’ for anti-party activities.

Dey was a cabinet minister in charge of Irrigation Department while Siddique Ahmed was the minister of state for cooperation etc.

Both the ministers were part of the rebel Congress MLAs led by Dr Himanta Bishwa Sarma.

Both the ministers had accompanied Dr Sarma along with 25 other rebel MLAs when he had gone to Raj Bhawan on Monday to submit his resignation to the Governor J B Patnaik.

Meanwhile, the Congress high command on Tuesday instructed the chief minister Tarun Gogoi to accept the resignation of Dr Sarma.

Reacting to the action taken against them Dr Dey and Ahmed said they had done nothing to be treated like this.

They said what they had demanded the removal of the chief minister for the greater interest of Congress’ revival in Assam.

Dr Sarma stated that injustice had been done to both the ministers as they were dropped without serving any show-cause notice to them.
