SIT to probe Manipur youth’s death: Govt

a Special Investigation Team has been constituted to investigate the death of Manipuri youth Akha Salouni in Delhi.

Making a statement in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju termed as “shocking and unfortunate” the death of the youth on Monday.

He said three of the assailants have been arrested and efforts are on to arrest the remaining two.

“A special investigation team under the supervision of DCP, South District, has been constituted and investigation of the case is in progress,” Rijiju said.He said the Delhi Police has registered a case under 302/34 IPC which deals with section 3 of SC/ST Act with Kotla Mubarakpur Police Station and investigation is on.

The Minister said during investigation conducted in this incident, the Delhi Police examined eye-witnesses Dihe Kazhiihrri and Nagendra Sharma and CCTV footage was also obtained.

“Three of the assailants, namely Bittu alias Rajeev, Shakti Basoya alias Shanky and Sanjay Singh Basoya have been arrested and efforts are on to arrest the remaining two,” Rijiju said. (PTI)
