SHILLONG: The Selection Committee entrusted with the task of appointing a Chairman and two members for the Meghalaya Human Rights Commission deferred its meeting to August 14 due to the absence of the quorum during Wednesday’s meeting.

An official source said that though the meeting was scheduled for Wednesday convened by the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma who is the Chairman of the committee and attended by Home Minister Roshan Warjri, the absence of the remaining members, Assembly Speaker AT Mondal and Leader of Opposition Donkupar Roy has compelled the Government to reschedule the meeting for August 14. However, the meeting advised the concerned department to prepare a panel of names to be taken up for discussion during the next meeting scheduled for August 14.
