Pathetic condition of Iewduh
SHILLONG: KHADC CEM Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit has summoned Syiem of Mylliem, Latho Manik Syiem over the pathetic condition of the oldest traditional market in the city, Iewduh.
Addressing newsmen on Thursday, Basaiawmoit, who has asked the Syiem of Mylliem to meet him on Monday, said besides seeking an explanation on why the traditional market has not been maintained properly, he would also discuss the problems faced by the vendors in the market.
The KHADC chief said that the Hima Mylliem, which makes huge revenue from Ïewduh, will have to take serious measures like the improvement of the infrastructure and ensure cleanliness in the market area.
“The past glory of the market will have to be restored at any cost,” the KHADC CEM said adding that the market right now is all but a dumping ground.
Basaiawmoit, who made a surprise inspection of the market on Wednesday, was shocked to witness the pathetic condition of Iewduh.
