SHILLONG: Parvati Nair, a 14-year-old archer, will represent India at the 2nd Asian Grand Prix Archery Championship, to be held in Taiwan next month.
Nair, born in Kerala, is the daughter of Indian Army colonel MN Sajan and studies at Army School, Happy Valley Campus, the Archery Association of Meghalaya informed through a press release on Thursday.
She has claimed a number of top places at several junior and sub-junior events this year.
Nair’s most recent triumph saw her take first place in the sub-junior category at the 4th National Ranking Archery Tournament held in Hyderabad in June where she also came third in the junior category and secured a top 10 position among the seniors.
“The Archery Association of Meghalaya congratulates this very young, dedicated, talented and hard working archer who has, through the relentless support of her father and her personal grit and determination, while representing the state of Meghalaya through the Association, reached the pinnacle of glory in archery in such a short time,” the AAM’s press release stated.
The Association also wished Nair the very best for the Grand Prix.
