SHILLONG: The 225 Home Guards who were discharged from duty by the Department of Forests, Garo Hills Territorial Division, on June 25 have urged the department to reinstate them in the same posts.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, Uttom Marak, representing the 225, urged the forest department to give them a chance to continue in their respective posts with the same salary in order to prevent any resentment.  The affected forest guards alleged that their services were terminated without any prior notice  even after their continuous service in the department for 20 years. They also threatened to stage a protest rally on July 30.
