SHILLONG: Mawlai MDC Process T. Sawkmie has urged PWD Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar to take measures for early completion of the VIP Road leading to the Shillong Airport at Umroi.
The Government has taken up the restoration of this VIP Road starting from Mawlai Mawroh, SANKER, and Mawtawar to Mawsiatkhnam before finally reaching the Shillong Airport.
However, undue delay has marred the completion of the road.
As part of the restoration work, the stretches of the original road from Lad Mawroh had been re-dug to widen the road but the poor condition of the restored road, especially the thickness of the black topping, speaks volumes about the quality of the work.
“I am confident that the PWD Minister would take necessary measures for completion of this important road,” Sawkmie said after carrying out an inspection of the road on Wednesday.
