Inter-school, varsity karate tournament begins

SHILLONG: The 22nd Inter School & 5th Inter College Karate Tournament, organised by the All Meghalaya Karate-do Association and the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, began here on Thursday with 12 events completed on the first day.
In all, 375 karatekas from 51 schools and eight colleges are taking part.
First day results:
U-12 boys individual kata (white-orange belts) – 1st Wanshanlang Kurkalang, 2nd Adial Marphi Nongdhar, 3rd Jeremy Kurkalang
Over-12 boys individual kata (white-orange) – 1st R Iaburomlang Lyngdoh, 2nd Lamshai Snar, 3rd Jesper Dkhar
U-12 girls individual kata (white-orange) – 1st Lawanda Shisha Muttyent,  2nd Stella Shallam, 3rd Cicilia Marbaniang
Over-12 girls individual kata (white-orange) – 1st Phikerbha Kharbihkhiew, 2nd Mela-aihun Shongwan, 3rd Medleen Jyrwa
Boys below 18kg individual kumite – 1st Rohit Nongbri, 2nd Samuel Basaiawmoit, 3rd Dawanmi Sumer and Adriel M Sumer
Girls below 18kg individual kumite – 1st Sadakini Kharteibok, 2nd Da-I-Lamanbha Dkhar, 3rd Wandakyrmen Kharbit and Cornerlian Basaiawmoit
Girls below 20kg individual kumite – 1st Adelfia L Warbah, 2nd Brianna Shullai, 3rd Rimalin Nongtnger and Amelia Khongbah
Boys below 20kg individual kumite – 1st Bashemphang Snaitang, 2nd Kynpham Kharkongor, 3rd Kermi Syrti and Gideon Tympuin
Girls below 25kg individual kumite – 1st Izadaphisha Khongwar, 2nd Felicia Dkhar, 3rd Daiakyntiew Wahlang and Phibalahun Pyngrope
Boys below 30kg kumite – 1st Solomon Pala, 2nd Banteinam Marbaniang, 3rd Melgivson Syiemlieh and Melky Paul Marwien
Boys below 35kg kumite – 1st Josanky Rympei, 2nd  Hilarius Snar, 3rd Rahul Kumar Yadav and Adrian Wankhar
Girls below 35kg kumite – 1st Baby Lalchhan Chhuahi, 2nd Mela-aihun Shongwan, 3rd Wandahun Kharbuddon and Felicia Nongdhar.
