SHILLONG: In view of the hullabaloo over the District Selection Committees (DSCs) recruitment in the past, the State Cabinet on Friday decided to bring an amendment into the recruitment procedure.

Speaking to media persons after the Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said that with the amendment, the DSCs will declare results equivalent to the number of posts which are available.

Stating that earlier more candidates were selected than the actual number of posts which in turn created uproar among the applicants, Sangma said, “Now the results will be declared as per the number of vacancies and the number of posts will be indicated at the time of advertisement.”

According to Sangma, the DSCs will also work out the anticipated number of vacancies in different departments for the coming years. “In case of any deviation, the concerned officer will be held responsible and subjected to departmental proceedings,” the Chief Minister said.

With the amendment, the Cabinet also decided that aptitude tests should be held for all posts and all the results should be announced immediately.

The Chief Minister also informed that a clause has been added where provisions will be made for providing a job to the land owners who give their land to the State Government for construction of hospitals or PHCs.
