TURA: At a time when the people of Tura are forced to cope with frequent LPG crisis hitting the town, one of the root causes for the crisis may be the illegal and open use of domestic LPG cylinders in many commercial establishments and shops as unearthed in a surprise raid conducted by the FKJGP.
The FKJGP Garo Hills Zone recently carried out surprise checks in and around the Tura main Market areas where it found that many of the shops and commercial establishments were illegally using domestic LPG cylinders.
Apprising the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner about its findings, the FKJGP reminded that domestic LPG cylinders cannot be used for commercial purposes as was being done in a number of restaurants, shops and fast food joints in the town.
The Federation requested the district head to look into the matter so as to prevent future LPG crisis as well as to ease the problems of the genuine consumers.
Some of the shops and stalls that were found to be in violation of the rules included Puja Tea Stall near Police Parade Ground, Hotel Maa Tara at Sundare Complex and the popular CJ Restaurant at Tura Super Market.
