104 NDFB (R) cadres join NDFB (P)

Guwahati: Over hundred cadres of NDFB (R) joined the NDFB (Progressive) alleging lack of “clear objectives” by the founder chairman of the outfit Ranjan Daimary on resolving the separate Bodoland state issue.
Currently, there are three factions of the Bodo rebel outfit. A group -NDFB(P)- led by its general secretary Gobinda Basumatary is currently engaged in talks with the Centre.
Another faction – NDFB(R) – is led by its chairman Ranjan Daimary who is on bail now. This faction is also in negotiations with the government separately.
The third faction led by the outfit’s army chief IK Songbijit is still underground. It has bases in Myanmar.
A ceremonial function was held ion Saturday to felicitate re-alignment of 104 cadres of the Ranjan Daimary faction with the NDFB (P) at Serfanguri designated camp in Kokrajhar.
The cadres also alleged that even the basic amenities were not provided in the designated camps. Talking to reporters, Govinda Basumatary, general secretary of NDFB (P) said that the cadres were depressed at the non-implementation of the ceasefire groundrules. (UNI)
