Nagaland ad-hoc teachers union calls off strike

Kohima: The All Nagaland Ad hoc Teachers’ Union (ANATU) on Sunday said it resolved to temporarily call off its indefinite peaceful agitation as government assured to address its demands.

ANTAU president Neizevotuo Nakhro said the decision to call off the protest was taken at union executive meeting in the hall of Department of School Education, Kohima on August 19, as the government assured that the process of regularisation of ad-hoc teachers would be completed within one month.

Appreciating the government for acknowledging their genuine rights, the union expressed hope that government would not disappoint the ad hoc teachers again. (UNI)

 Horticulture team to tour Europe

Kohima: A team of officials from the Nagaland Horticulture Department led by Parliamentary Secretary (Horticulture) R Khing is on an exposure tour to Europe.

The team consisted of Mission Director (HTM) Dr N Benjong Aier, Joint Director, Horticulture Pawan Kumar and DHO, Phek Dr Moa Walling.

Official sources said today the tour was sponsored by the Union Ministry of Agriculture, Horticulture division under Horticulture Technology Mission. According to Mission Director of the Horticulture Technology Mission Dr N Benjong Aier, the team is presently touring Switzerland, Austria and Italy. The officials visited many hi-tech green houses (Fruit Nurseries and Flowers), apple orchards, plum orchards, vegetable farms and cold chain supply systems. (UNI)
