SHILLONG: The court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) has rejected the bail application of Sub-Inspector SN Roy, who was accused of raping a minor girl.

Superintendent of police (City) M Kharkrang on Monday told reporters that the accused cop had been remanded to 14-day judicial custody.

Police had produced the case diary on August 19 in the court of CJM and the court subsequently decided to reject Roy’s bail application.

“Police are trying hard to nab one more person involved in the crime”, he said.

Roy had surrendered before a court in Shillong on July 30 and he was suspended from service.

He was absconding since April after applying for sick leave. A non-bailable warrant was issued against Roy in April after he was found guilty of raping a 13-year-old girl at a city hotel in March

According to Kharkrang, the accused cop has not confessed to his crime but the police have enough evidence to prove his involvement in the crime.
