SHILLONG: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCP) has decided to follow up the case of Pastor S.K. Miller who was allegedly involved in child abuse case.
Miller had secured bail in 2012 after he spent 45 days in judicial custody for alleged exploitation and sexual abuse of minors staying at the New Life Home owned by him here.
In a reply to CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing, Preet Verma, Advisor to NCPCR Chairperson, said that the Commission has already taken up the matter related to providing interim relief to the victims as per the rules framed by the Meghalaya Government.
Verma said that the Commission took up the issue with East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner and the Commission also received two action taken reports.
The second report mentioned that the charge sheet against the accused has been filed, and the children have been handed over to the parents after necessary documentation. The children also received intensive counseling while they were in the respective shelter homes.
“Since the case is sub-judice, it will be closed at the Commission,” Verma said.
