CM’s all-important meet with GH MLAs on Aug 26

Mukul to discuss State law and order issues with all legislators

SHILLONG: A crucial meeting of the 24 legislators from Garo Hills region to discuss the prevailing law and order situation in Garo Hills will be held in Shillong on August 26.

A senior government official on Tuesday informed that Chief Minister Mukul Sangma will be chairing this crucial meeting.

“We have already dispatched letters to all the 24 MLAs at their respective residences in Shillong. We have also requested the deputy commissioners of the various districts in Garo Hills to send the letters to the respective local addresses of the various legislators,” the official said.

Meanwhile, the official source also informed that shortly after the August 26 meeting, the Government will convene a meeting of all the 60 legislators of the State to discuss issues pertaining to the law and order situation across the entire State.

Earlier, the Chief Minister, while dwelling on the importance of the meeting, had stated that it was necessary to convene this meeting to elicit suggestions and opinions on the matter from all concerned, since the State Government is clear in its intent to work towards finding a lasting solution to the problems.

Sangma had also stated that the need of the hour was to comprehend the problems in totality and then concertedly work together to find a lasting solution.
