Students behind NEHU theft cases: Police

 SHILONG: Police ‘suspect’ involvement of some NEHU students in some of the recent theft cases which took place inside the university campus.

Giving this indication, the Superintendent of police (city) M Kharkrang on Monday told reporters that police found evidence of involvement of some students in certain theft cases took place inside the university campus.

“A student was involved in stealing of fans from a hostel”, he said.

The North Eastern Hill University Teachers’ Association (NEHUTA) recently expressed concern over rise in theft incidents at the teachers’ residences.

According to Kharkrang, the State police recently had a meeting with the NEHU officials and the concerned security agency in this regard. “We will be working jointly to provide security inside the campus,” the SP added.
