HILLONG: The State Government recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Peregrine Guarding Services (PGS), a subsidiary of Mortice Ltd, for training and placement of candidates as security guards around the country.

The MOU was signed between Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma and Peregrine Guarding managing director, Brig Rajan Oberoi.

Sources on Sunday said that this initiative of the Government was aimed at creating employment opportunities for the youth of the State.

“The State Government with the assistance of the company will create new infrastructure for training of security guards. After completion of the training, successful candidates will receive a certificate of competence from Peregrine and assistance in securing employment at locations across India,” official sources said.

Sources said under the programme, a 10-day basic security training will be followed by five days of on-the-job training at the client site.

PGS began its operations in 1995 and at present operates in all the Indian states. “In a span of 18 years, Peregrine Guarding became one of India’s leading security services corporations, offering comprehensive security services to a customer base of over 1800 plus clients, many of them being blue chip corporations in the IT / ITeS, Manufacturing, Retail, Telecom and Financial Service sectors,” official sources said.
