Langstieh appointed Damodar Valley Corp Chairman

SHILLONG: Former Principal Accountant General, Meghalaya, Andrew WK Langstieh has been appointed as the new Chairman of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC). Langstieh is likely to join his new assignment on September 1.
The post of Chairman, DVC is of equivalent status to a Secretary to the Government of India.
DVC, the first multipurpose river valley project of independent India came into existence on               July 7, 1948 by an Act of the Central Legislature. Its total installed capacity at present is 6357.2 Megawatt (MW). The current annual turnover of DVC is Rs. 11,000 crores and it has assets exceeding Rs 35,000 crores.
Langstieh, an Indian Audit & Accounts Service officer of the 1982 batch, is presently posted at Delhi as Director General of Audit (Central Expenditure). He has served in various capacities across the country in the Indian Audit and & Accounts Department including the tenure as Principal Accountant General, Meghalaya and also as Director General of Audit, Defence Services, New Delhi.
