New DVC Chairman

Andrew W.K. Langstieh has taken over charge as Chairman of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) on Monday. The post of Chairman, DVC, is of equivalent status to a Secretary to the Government of India. Langstieh, an Indian Audit & Accounts Service officer of the 1982 batch was posted at Delhi as Director General of Audit (Central Expenditure) prior to joining DVC.

Road closed

In order to facilitate construction of Jowai Bypass, the road leading from Moopyllaitsyiar to Mukhla Lhliehtyrshi has been temporarily closed for a period of about four months for the purpose of constructing an underpass. An alternate route connecting these villages with the Shillong-Jowai Road at a point near 3rd Battalion Station may be used.

Pension Adalat

The Director, Sainik Welfare Meghalaya, has informed that a two-day Defence Pension Adalat will be held at Rhino Auditorium, Assam Regimental Centre, on October 16 and 17 to redress the grievances of defence pensioners.

Neat Fest

The North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project will organize Neat Fest 2014 from September 2-5 at All Saint’s Cathedral Hall. The theme for this year is ‘showcasing diversities of upland North East India’. Chief Secretary P.B.O. Warjri will be the chief guest for the inaugural function.
