SHILLONG: After ‘successfully bringing’ sudden political upheaval in Meghalaya Congress under control, the AICC General Secretary in-charge Meghalaya Luizinho Faleiro on Saturday left for Delhi taking along with him Chief Minister Mukul Sangma.
Shillong MP Vincent H Pala, who came to the city for a brief period, accompanied the duo to the national capital.
While Pala is entrusted with the responsibility to oversee the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) polls, the purpose of the Chief Minister’s visit is not known though it is speculated that he might try to meet top AICC leaders including president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi, sources said adding that the visit of Chief Minister to Delhi was pre-planned, though there is no official engagement there.
Pala was directed by the AICC General Secretary Oscar Fernandes to campaign for NSUI.
Our Delhi Correspondent adds: Meanwhile, soon after arriving in the national capital Sangma, Pala and Faleiro addressed the student leaders from the North East at the AICC office as part of the campaign for DUSU polls scheduled for September 12.
About 20,000 students from North East are expected to take part in the DUSU polls which is considered to be crucial even for national politics.
