Congress keeping a watch on KHADC situation

SHILLONG: The crucial meeting of HSPDP to discuss UDP’s demand for the change of leadership in the ruling coalition in KHADC- All Regional Parties Alliance (ARPA) — will be held on Tuesday.

The party sources on Monday informed that the meeting is slated to be held at HSPDP president Hoping Stone Lyngdoh’s residence at 4 pm.

Besides the MDCs, party sources informed that senior leaders have been asked to attend the crucial meeting.

“We are hoping that the meeting will take the final call on the demand of UDP ,” party sources said adding that all the party MDCs were firm that they would not accept any move to replace Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit as their leader.

“The party leadership is also expected to back the stand of the MDCs,” sources said.

Meanwhile, Congress MDCs in the KHADC are keeping a close watch on the latest development in the Council.

“We are yet to approach UDP seeking their support of working together in the Council. We do not feel that the situation is right since negotiation is still going on among the three alliance partners of ARPA,” a senior Congress MDC in the KHADC said here on Monday.

He, however, indicated that the party was ready to work with UDP if the later comes out of the alliance.

He said that the party leadership in the State is also having a similar view on the present crisis in the KHADC.

Earlier, the UDP had given one week time to HSPDP to respond to its demand for change of leadership of the ruling coalition in KHADC.
