City school to celebrate golden jubil

SHILLONG: Dr. Radhakrishnan Boys’ Secondary School, R & R Colony, Shillong, has successfully completed a chequered journey of 50 years and to commemorate this occasion in a befitting manner, the School Managing Committee has drawn up an ambitious three-day celebration on the school premises from Sept 11 to 13.

The inaugural function will be graced by Governor K.K. Paul. Minister for Health and IT, A.L. Hek, and Nongthymmai legislator Jemino Mawthoh, among others will also attend the function.

Cultural programmes planned include performances by Catherine Pyngrope and Trijoy Deb and Somchanda, acclaimed artists from Kolkata.

An inter-school Secondary-level Quiz competition will also be held on September 12 at 10 am on the school premises.

An open Yoga competition and an interactive session will be organized on September 13 at 3 pm which will be attended by Rajya Sabha member Chandan Mitra, as the chief guest.

The Session will also be graced by Manas Chaudhuri, former Editor of The Shillong Times and former Education Minister, Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta, Coordinator, Peace and Conflict Studies, Gauhati University, Hafeez Rashid Chaudhuri, Senior Advocate, Gauhati High Court and Jemino Mawthoh, MLA.
