Itanagar: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has alleged the Centre has adopted ‘delaying tactics’ in bringing a permanent solution to the ‘decades-old’ Chakma and Hajong refugee issue. A delegation of the union on Tuesday called on Chief Minister Jarbon Gamlin to air their reservations about the Centre’s stand and Gamlin then promised to seriously pursue the matter with New Delhi, an AAPSU statement said here on Wednesday.

The team, led by union President Takam Tatung and General Secretary Tujum Poyom, apprised Gamlin of the letter issued by the Director of the Union Home Ministry J P N Singh. The union leaders while briefing the CM on the content of the letter, alleged that the high power committee under the Chairmanship of Joint Secretary (NE), Union Home Ministry, constituted to examine various issues relating to settlement of Chakma and Hajong in Arunachal Pradesh, was busy in ‘delaying tactics.’ (PTI)
