Focus on youth at Bosco mega rally

SHILLONG: The main thrust of the Don Bosco Past Pupils’ mega Rally at Laitumkhrah Don Bosco Technical School on September 14, 2014, will be on youth empowerment.

Informing this, president of Don Bosco Past Pupils’ Association, Shillong (DBPPAS), George Arthur Warjri, said that the main focus of all deliberations and discussions of the rally will be on how to empower the youth of Meghalaya in various ways.

Bringing into perspective, Warjri narrated that the whole life and works of Don Bosco, the founder of the Salesian religious Congregation, was dedicated to the education, reformation, transformation and empowerment of the youth of his time. He said that Don Bosco was a friend and companion, a counselor and a guide, a teacher and a godfather of thousands of poor, down trodden, neglected, abandoned, marginalised and school dropout youths of Italy, when the whole of Europe was reeling under industrial revolution.

Warjri also informed that 2014 is the unveiling year of the bi-centenary birth anniversary of Don Bosco which will culminate on August 16, 2015, at Turin, Italy.

He said that lakhs of past pupils of Don Bosco institutions from all over the globe will flock to Turin for the grand finale of the bi-centenary celebrations. The rally of the past pupils of Don Bosco at Laitumkhrah will be attended by the Provincial of Silchar Province, Fr. George Maliekal. Vice-Provincial Fr. Paul Lyngkot is also expected to attend the grand rally.
