Shillong: Shillong Lajong and Royal Wahingdoh played out a goalless draw in their Shillong Premiere League outing on Wednesday.
Despite some exciting moments that could have altered the final outcome. Wahingdoh, fielding a number of their senior players after a three-month lay off, showed aggression in their gameplay and came close to scoring on a number of occasions but were unlucky, especially Liberian attacking midfielder Bekay Bawar who find his way into the box and taking several shots. On the other hand, Lajong’s side that comprised mostly of its youth players, showed their spirit and did well to contain the Wahingdoh attack. However, neither side was able to do much to change the scoreline and both finally settled for a 0-0 draw.
In the Second Division, Nongumlong brought down Madan 3-0 after D. Warkhyllew scored two goals aided by another from R. Sawian. Warkyllew scored in the 34th and 68th minutes while Sawian proscored in the 23rd minute.
Lawsohtun made it 2-0 against Kharang after earning a crucial 45th minute penalty in a Third Division match. Lawsohtun’s lead came in the form of a penalty in the 45th minute by B. Malngiang before his team mate L. Kipgen made it 2-0 in the 56th minute.
Kharang came back with a goal through S. Kharbithai (70+2) but that was not enough to save them. In another match, Lummawbah routed Nongmensong 2-0. K.Lamare scored the opening goal in the 19th minute while J. Lyngdoh added another in the 56th minute.
