SHILLONG: The ANVC-B on Friday asserted that it would sign the final settlement in New Delhi on September 24 led by its chairman Rimpu Marak and its commander Mukosh Ch Marak accompanied by general secretary Jakrik, political secretary Dogamdot, organising secretary Akimbri and other top officials.

In a statement issued here on Friday, the outfit said that each officer represents the Garo cadres of Khasi Hills, Garo Hills and Assam, which were the original areas of the proposed Garoland.

“All leaders have agreed to join the final settlement with the view that peace has to be restored in Garo Hills as aspirations of the people are being over shadowed by situations that have taken centre stage,” the statement from the outfit said while adding that the outfit stands to represent the hopes and aspirations of the people through their leaders. “Our organization represents not only the Garos but also smaller tribes like Hajong and Koch who happen to be a part of our big family. There are also members who are representing Atong, Ruga and Megam tribes. This is truly a Historic moment for the Garos,” the statement said.

The outfit has also assured change and growth through this settlement and a platform for common people to participate in governance.
